I think making a name for yourself is a wrong objective ... I would prefer to look for ways where you can make maximum contribution, and that depends on two things: clearly what your skills are and, less clearly, what the activities that you truly enjoy are. By choosing occupations that you can get excited about you are likely to do your best work. *
